Beautification Task Force

Mission Statement:

Improve public awareness and civic pride, promote involvement and coordination of services, in the pursuit of further beautification of the scenic and historic community of Bernards Township to enhance the quality of life and property values for all residents.

Objectives

  • To design, sponsor and conduct beautification projects.
  • Work in conjunction with other Municipal groups, most specifically the Green Team, Shade Tree Commission, Parks, Recreation & Pathways Committee, Community Service and the Department of Public Works to accomplish the common goal of further beautifying the township and creating a pleasant environment in which to live and work.
  • Collaborate with existing service groups, such as the Garden Club, to share resources and ideas while maintaining autonomy.

Events:

  • Sale of flags for the Field of Honor has ended. Applications are no longer available. The Dedication Ceremony will take place on November 6th at noon on the Town Hall Lawn, 1 Collyer Lane, Basking Ridge. For those wishing to pick up their flag and/or ribbon at the end of the two week display, please come to the town hall on November 19th between 10am and noon. For inquiries or to volunteer on the project, please contact Laura Begg at beautification@bernards.org. Thank you.

  • The Beautification Task Force is coordinating a Community Pride Day on Saturday, April 21, 2012.
    Ramp Cleanup Guidelines
  • Target cleanup site: Interstate 287 ramps
  • Time: Meet at 8:30 AM for orientation (Cleanup from 9-11 AM)
  • Meeting Place: Community Service building on Stonehouse Rd. (two doors from Getty station and next to Basking Ridge Electric)
  • Parking: Lyons Park and Ride lot across from the Community Service Building
  • Transportation will be provided from the meeting place to the cleanup site
  • Rain or shine
  • Each volunteer must sign a “hold harmless” waiver in order to participate
  • Only volunteers 18 years old and older can participate
  • Pickup bags, gloves, safety vests, and pickup sticks will be provided to each volunteer
  • Traffic cones and police assistance will be used at the cleanup site
  • All volunteers will work on one set of ramps, then move as a group to the next set
